A Short Note from Pat Spurin - May 2010
Dear Friends,
We are having our Friends of Sikinga AGM on Friday June 11th at United Reformed Church, Bethesda St, just at the side of M and S at 7.30pm. Our friend Pam Wilding whom we first met in Kenya in 1959 is coming to speak. She stayed in Kenya much longer than us, and like us has kept links, so we are pleased she can come and share some news with us.
As many of you know, Richard and I both have health problems and our little band of supporters is diminishing to the extent that we may not be able to continue to send the school fees for all the needy children. Other years I have held an open day in our house and raised about £500 which has been a considerable portion of our funds, but I haven’t the strength to do it this year. We try to raise about £4000 a year.
If you are in the happy position of having a little spare time ( so you encourage us by coming along to the meeting) or a little spare cash which would encourage us and the folk at Sikinga, we would be very grateful.
The latest news of some of the students is posted elsewhere on this site, and we are hoping there may be some letters by June.
