WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE OF 'FRIENDS OF SIKINGA', A LOCAL CHARITY IN BURNLEY, UK, SUPPORTING PEOPLE IN SIKINGA, KENYA.
The UK Committee of the Friends of Sikinga braved icy conditions to meet on 6th February 2012.
Minutes of the meeting held in Sikinga were read and discussed
along with accounts from Dominic. The committee were encouraged by
progress being made.
Our finances are satisfactory, but we could
always do with raising more as there are still many needs to be met in
Sikinga. A letter to supporters resulted in an encouraging response;
thank you to all of you who sent donations as a result.
The AGM was
provisionally set for Friday 29th June - keep looking for more details.
Bea Foster hopes to hold a Cream Tea event at her home
on 20th May. There is a proposal to attend a car boot sale
later this year to raise funds.
We finished by looking at the latest
photographs from Sikinga.

The new Friends of Sikinga Committee in Kenya held its first AGM in January 2012.
The meeting was held outdoors and was attended by many people from the village. We have some pictures of the occasion which you can view on the PICTURES page.
The
Friends in England were thanked, and the students in Sikinga encouraged
to work hard!
It was recognised that students would benefit from
counselling and discussing matters that affect them, and steps were
taken to implement this. There was also a desire to assist those who had
finished school but still needed assistance for example to attend
college.
The progress of other (non FOS) projects, such as the
Catering wing and the Cow project, was mentioned and both were making
progress.

Report from the list on the left.
