Present: Mrs P.Spurin in the chair and 21 members and friends.
Apologies: Received from Mr and Mrs M.Smith, Mrs A Eastwood and Mrs M Green.
Minutes: The last meeting's minutes were read and approved.
Matters Arising: The website has been improved, but despite increasing numbers of visitors there are no tangible signs of interest. Online giving is now available.
Chairman's Remarks and Report: We have had a sticky patch financially but the chairman was proactive in obtaining several donations. She was unavailable to hold her open day due to illness but Mrs B Foster is holding an event on the 11th July to help raise funds and awareness.
Treasurer's Report: Mr T Yates confirmed that earlier in the year funds had been scarce but the position has improved and we have been able to send to Sikinga £4100 to help towards school fees. We are now holding a balance of £XXXX. The meeting approved and accepted the accounts.
Election of Officers and Committee: The officers and committee were re-elected en bloc with the addition of Gillian Ormerod as a committee member.
Following the conclusion of the formal business the guest speaker, Canon Pam Wilding, talked about her work in West Kenya, particularly in the fields of secretarial training and later in the care of street children. She ceased work in 2003 but returns to West Kenya every two years and continues her interest in the street children. Sha painted a vivid picture of life in West Kenya and also outlined the educational system out there. She was warmly thanked by the Chairman.
Refreshments were then served.
