FOS Committee Meeting: 25th January 2010 - St.Peter's Church, Burnley
Present: Mrs P.Spurin in the chair and all members present apart from Helen Kirkup, Tony Yates and David Kilpatrick, all of whom sent their apologies.
Minutes: The last meeting's minutes were read and approved.
Matters Arising: Alan Roadley reported that he had redesigned the website, and also that he had paid the hosting fee himself. The new website contains considerably more pages than the previous one and was thought by those who have seen it to be excellent. Alan gave details of visitor numbers to the site and was thanked for his work.
Martyn Smith reported that the only response to his request for sponsorship from Burnley F.C. had been the provision of a pennant, which it is hoped could be sold and the proceeds given to the Friends.
The Chairman agreed to approach Terry Murnane about school sponsorship as a matter of urgency.
The committee agreed that we should have facility for online donations and Alan will make the arrangements with the Treasurer.
Financial Report: We only have £XXXX in the bank, though the chairman hopes to add a further £500 shortly, and we hope to claim Gift Aid of around £200. We need to find £2100 before May. The Bowland Trust has given £500 towards the catering venture.
News from Sikinga: The chairman gave up to date news. Milton is asking for more money urgently as it is needed to pay school fees in advance and also for examination registrations. The committee agreed to do it's best but will find it very difficult. Milton is asking for £2800 now.
Future Funding It is felt that school sponsorship is essential, but approaches should also be made to the Masonic Lodges and the Rotary Club. Perhaps we could have a concert to raise awareness and funds. The Treasurer is to be asked to provide financial reports on a more regualar basis if possible.
AGM 2010: To be held on Friday 11th June at the United Reformed Church, Burnley, if available. Pam Wilding of Knott End is to be asked to speak.
