FOS Committee Meeting: 22nd September 2008 - St.Peter's Church, Burnley
Matters arising:
1 Website The secretary is to investigate bringing it up to date and putting a copy of all future minutes on it. 2 We have a supply of leaflets. 3 The AGM was successful but not too well attended. 4 Bethesda will retain the display a little longer.
Financial report:
The treasurer reported that we have £1816.04 in the bank and will be able to pay Sikinga £1700 in November. The bank has withdrawn the facility to pay interest on the account and the Treasurer is to look at transferring to Natwest or CafBank. The Treasurer provided a list of donations from which it is apparent that most donations come from individuals rather than Churches etc. Milton had sent accounts from Sikinga together with his budget for 2009: we are supporting 23 children.
Fund raising: David James suggested that we produced a calendar for 2010 and this idea was supported. Mrs Spurin is to be asked to produce a newsletter twice a year, one in Oct/Nov and another in April/May, which would also be appropriate for churches in Burnley and will be sent with a donation reply slip. Kathleen Smith agreed to distribute the newsletter.
The Secretary is to write a letter publicising Sikinga to the Burnley Express prior to Christmas.
The Christmas Tree Festival: at St Peter's starts 7th Dec. We are to have a tree supervised by Kathleen.
