THE PAGE WHERE WE TRY TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR CHARITY

Are there any administration costs?
No! There are no paid employees, and nobody takes any money for performing services for Friends of Sikinga. The few costs we incur are minimal.

What happens to money that is donated?
All donations are paid into our UK bank account. When the money is required in Sikinga for a specific purpose it is sent directly to the administrator in the village.

If I donate to FOS will I be be constantly sent letters and receive phone calls asking for more money?
No! It is not the policy of FOS to keep badgering our supporters for more money.

Isn't education free in Kenya?
Only Primary education; but uniforms, books, classroom materials and almost all of the necessities required to study at school that UK children take for granted are not. Secondary education is not free. There are also "desk funds", "building funds" and exam fees. As the children we support are from families who operate at a subsistence level and can barely afford food for the table, they could not enjoy an effective education and be able to study for and take proper qualifications without the help we give.

Can anyone attend FOS meetings?
You would be welcome to come along to our Committee Meetings (although only committee members may vote on business) and also to our AGM.

Is it possible to visit Sikinga?
It is possible to visit and stay in the small guesthouse which we provided for the village. It's not the normal tourist thing, but is a real chance to be part of an African village community and get to know the people.

SIKINGA? WHERE IS IT?

Sikinga is between Busia and Bungoma in Western Kenya, about 460km, or 290 miles, from Nairobi.
